Haniel Spring & Fall Schools

The Brandt School's Spring & Fall Schools give MPP-students a unique opportunity to participate in intensive week-long courses abroad. In 2010 and 2011, the Spring & Fall School programs took place in Moscow on the topics "Transformation and Public Policies" and "Contemporary Governance in Russia and the European Union". The 2012 Fall School in St. Petersburg covered the topic of "Social Policy Today - Russia in Comparison". From May 17-26, 2013 the Haniel Spring School 2013 in Novosibirsk entitled "The Effects of Center-Local Relationships on Public Policy" will deal with federalism and regional economic development in Russia.

The Brandt School's Spring & Fall Schools are generously supported by the Haniel Foundation and organized in cooperation with partner institutions such as the Higher School of Economics in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, the Centre for Independent Social Research in Saint Petersburg, the Novosibirsk State University and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Russia.

The participants of the Brandt School's Spring & Fall Schools analyze and discuss Public Policy-related topics from a comparative perspective. Methodological guidance and intellectual input is provided by Brandt School professors as well as scholars and analysts from the Brandt School's partner institutions. Meetings and workshops with experts and practitioners, excursions and cultural activities complete the programs and make the Brandt Schools Spring & Fall Schools an unforgettable academic and intercultural experience.
