Presentation of Global Hunger Index 2018

On November 15, 2018, Dr. Klaus von Grebmer presented the results of the Global Hunger Index 2018, issued annually by Welthungerhilfe e.V. Dr. Grebmer is a Research Fellow Emeritus and Strategic Advisor in the Director General’s Office of the International Food Policy Institute (IFPRI).

Dr. Grebmer highlighted the methodology used to calculate the Global Hunger Index and presented the main conclusions of this year’s index, with a special focus on the dual relation between hunger and migration. While global hunger rates have been decreasing within the last 15 years, the last two years displayed a stagnation of progress in combatting hunger and in some parts of the world, even increasing hunger rates. The event was followed by a vivid discussion among participants and a subsequent get-together.

We would like to express our gratitude for Dr. Grebmer and the team of Welthungerhilfe e.V. for sharing their valuable experiences and time with us.
