Brandt School Universität Erfurt

Welcome to the new Public Policy Experts

The Willy Brandt School of Public Policy welcomes the new class of 2017-2019.

On October 9, 48 students from 30 countries started their Master of Public Policy (MPP) at the Willy Brandt School. We are proud of such a diverse and motivated group of new students from different backgrounds. The Master of Public Policy at the Willy Brandt School is interdisciplinary, meaning that lawyers from Brazil can study with social workers from India in a practice-oriented environment. This makes the MPP a unique program in Germany.

From October 9-13, 2017, the new students had the chance to get to know each other, the Brandt School and the program in this year´s orientation week. These five days helped the students to settle in Germany in general and in Erfurt in specific, but also enabled them to bond with their co-students through discussions and informal get-togethers. They could interact with second year students at the Campus Tour and learned about how to embrace cultural difference, their opportunities, and how to deal with the “culture shock” in the “Cultural Diversity Workshop”.

The week ended with a kick-off-lecture by Nicholas Kralev, an American journalist, author and entrepreneur specializing on international affairs. The students had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of policy and to get to know a possible working field. Nicholas Kralev talked about the “U.S. Diplomacy and the World Order” giving inside in the real problematics of politics today and emphasizing the importance of learning the tools of Public Policy.
