Urs Lindner is a postdoctoral researcher at the Max-Weber-Kolleg where he also coordinates the interdisciplinary research group Ordering Dynamics. Before joining the University of Erfurt in 2014, he has been a junior fellow at the Postwachstumskolleg in Jena (2013/14) and has worked as a scientific coordinator at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (2010-13). He has also been a DAAD-Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (2014/15) and at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, Delhi (February 2017).

Currently, Urs is working on a habilitation project on affirmative action in a comparative perspective (project title: Justice as Equal Standing: Affirmative Action in India, the US, and Germany). His areas of specialization are political philosophy, social theory and the philosophy of social science. His research interests include egalitarianism and critique, capitalist modernity, intersectionality and postcolonialism, causation and explanation in the social realm as well as realist and materialist ontology.
