Dr. Annamarie Bindenagel Šehović, is a collaborator with the Franz Haniel Chair of Public Policy at the Willy Brandt School, Prof. Dr. Florian Hoffmann, focusing on global health policy. She is also a lecturer on statehood at the University of Erfurt.
Ms. Šehović is also a collaborator with Prof. Dr. Franklyn Lisk at the Centre for Globalization and Regionalization at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, as well as a contributing analyst at Consultancy Africa Intelligence, based in Pretoria, South Africa, where she worked from 2009 to the end of 2011, publishing numerous articles. Prior to that, she worked on various aspects of HIV/AIDS policy in South Africa in the private, public, and NGO sectors, university, and community, from 2003-2006.
She earned her Dr. rer. pol. in Political Science in October 2012. Her dissertation was entitled ‘HIV/AIDS and the South African State: Sovereignty and the Responsibility to Respond’, submitted at the Free University of Berlin, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Thomas Risse. After revisions, it was published in April 2014 by Ashgate Global Health series. Prior to that she earned her MMPP at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa in 2006, with a thesis on ‘HIV/AIDS and Human Security,’ and her BA (honors) magna cum laude at the University of Notre Dame, USA in 2003, with a thesis entitled ‘Religious Freedom in US Foreign Policy’.
Her areas of expertise include HIV/AIDS and global health policy; the theory and practice of sovereign statehood; and global governance.
