Dr. Edgar Aragón

Edgar Aragón is Professor at the Graduate School for Public Administration and Public Policy of Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico (EGAP-Tec de Monterrey). Until January 2008, he was Director of the Master’s Program in Economics and Public Policy (MEK) at EGAP. During this time, he conducted socio-economic evaluations of public programs, such as lending to small and medium size firms; the social provisioning of milk; and the status of water infrastructure in Mexico. Before 2002, he worked as an economic and financial consultant in Mexico City and Leuven, Belgium. He received his Ph.D in City and Regional Planning and his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Cornell University. He has been a Fellow at the United Nations University (UNU/IAS) in Tokyo, and at the Inter-American Foundation (IAF) in Washington. He is co-author of Harvard case studies and he currently focuses his research on strategic financing for infrastructure projects, microfinance for poverty alleviation, and on technology and innovation policies for regional development.
