The Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, founded at the University of Erfurt in 2002, was Germany´s first graduate programs of its kind. Founded in 1392, closed in the 19th century, and reopened with an ambitious reform program in 1994 following German reunification, the University of Erfurt is both the youngest and one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Germany. The university is particularly well-known for its faculties of social sciences and humanities. The state-of-the-art library, innumerable student clubs and societies, and the close relationship between professors and students make the University of Erfurt a truly hospitable environment for learning and development.
