Brandt School Universität Erfurt

A Warm Welcome to the new Public Policy Students

The Willy Brandt School welcomes the new class of 2018 – 2020.

On October 8, more than 40 students from 25 countries started their Master of Public Policy (MPP) at the Willy Brandt School. We are proud of such a diverse and motivated group of new students from different backgrounds. The Master of Public Policy at the Willy Brandt School has an interdisciplinary, international and practice-oriented approach, which makes it a unique program in Germany.

At the Welcome Reception on October 8, David Audretsch, distinguished professor at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University, addressed our incoming students with his keynote speech "Why a Global Perspective Matters for Policy". The students learned four important reasons why a global perspective is important to them as future policy experts and makers.
The new class was also welcomed by Prof. Dr. Heike Grimm, the director of the Brandt School, as well as Prof. Dr. Guido Mehlkopf, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Erfurt, and Anna-Lena Winkler from the Haniel Foundation which is one of the most important partners of the school. Subsequently, the students had the opportunity to get together with staff and professors to celebrate their start to the MPP program.

During the orientation week from October 8-12, 2018, the students have the chance to get to know each other, the Brandt School and the program. This week helps them to settle in Germany in general and in Erfurt in specific, but also enables them to bond with their co-students through discussions and informal get-togethers. Various photos of the Welcome Reception can be found here.

We warmly welcome our new students and look forward to an amazing study experience!
