Brandt School student Maria Brackin wins DAAD award

The University of Erfurt will give its 933 graduates of the summer semester 2019 a ceremonial farewell on Friday and Saturday, 18th/19th October. 1272 graduates completed their studies at the University of Erfurt in the 2018/19 academic year.

As part of the graduation ceremony on Saturday, the University of Erfurt will again award the DAAD prize for excellent foreign students. This year, Maria Brackin, student at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, will receive the prestigious award. The jury’s decision was based not only on her excellent academic achievements, but on her extracurricular engagement as well. The “Sharing Living Project" was developed by Maria and four fellow Brandt School students as part of a Social Entrepreneruship course. The aim of the project is to bring together students and senior citizens, offering them affordable living and mutual assistance in day to day living. The idea was turned into a business plan and has since then won the University of Erfurt’s “Gründungsideenwettbewerb” and third place at the Commitment Award 2018. Maria also works on the Brandt School Bulletin Podcast, which she helped bring to life. “Maria does all of these things with great zeal, a high degree of professionalism and and reliability,” said the jury in its statement.

We are proud of Maria and congratulate her on this great achievement!
