Prof. Dr. Andreas Goldthau joins the Willy Brandt School as new Franz Haniel Professor for Public Policy

While the outcome of the Brexit negotiations remains uncertain, we are excited to announce that Prof. Dr. Andreas Goldthau is definitely going to leave London to join the Brandt School as the new Franz Haniel Chair in August 2019.

Professor Andreas Goldthau currently holds a Chair in International Relations at Royal Holloway College, University of London, and he is Research Group Lead at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies. He is also Associate with the Geopolitics of Energy Project at Harvard University's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Previously, he served as Professor at Central European University's School of Public Policy, as Adjunct Professor with John Hopkins' MSc program in energy policy and climate, and held shorter appointments  at the Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, the RAND Corporation and the German Institute for International and Security Affairs. His academic interests lie in the international political economy of the low carbon transition, energy security and global energy governance. His most recent books include The Politics of Shale Gas in Eastern Europe (Cambridge University Press, 2018) and the Handbook of the International Political Economy of Energy and Natural Resources (Edward Elgar, 2018).

“We are looking forward to bringing on board Prof. Goldthau and his wealth of expertise in the field of energy policy,” says Prof. Dr. Achim Kemmerling, Director of the Willy Brandt School. “Our MPP students will greatly benefit from his years of experience of teaching at internationally renowned institutions.”
