Katalin Hahn has overall responsibility for the provision of administrative services to staff and students in the Brandt School. She manages matters relating to personnel, financial planning, and external communication and works closely with the Director of the Brandt School on the strategic development and the services offered by the School.


Previously, Katalin was a research assistant to the Chair for Comparative Government held by Prof. Dr. Dietmar Herz (†) as well as to the Chair of Public Policy and Entrepreneurship held by Prof. Dr. Heike Grimm, both at the University of Erfurt. She graduated with a B.A. in Social Sciences from the Justus-Liebig-University of Giessen and with an M.A. in Political Sciences and Public Law from the University of Erfurt. Her main research areas were the politics, policies and polity of the European Union (EU). The topic of her B.A.-thesis was the irregular immigration to the European Union; and in her M.A.-thesis, she discussed the chances and risks of the trade agreement between the EU and Colombia.


Her professional background includes working in the communications department of the NGO Asociación de Trabajo Interdisciplinario (ATI) in Bogotá, Colombia. In national networks, ATI is engaged to ensure the human right of food, to strengthen the autonomy of women and to widen the political participation of the youth mainly in and around the capital. Katalin gained political and administrative experience by working as a local assistant of a Member of the European Parliament. Additionally, Katalin researches currently as a doctoral student on the political representation of persons of different gender in the EU and doing so, she focuses on the legislative work of the EU regarding gender equality. Furthermore, she examines European and international migration politics und policies.
