Dr. Anwesha Ghosh is the recipient of the Initialization Postdoctoral Fellowship for Female Academics 2018-2019 at the University of Erfurt, Germany. Presently, she is also an Adjunct Fellow at the Centre for Pakistan and West Asian Studies at the University of Calcutta.

Dr. Ghosh received her doctoral degree from the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, University of Erfurt, Germany under the DAAD Conflict Studies and Management Programme. Prior to that, she did her M.Phil at the Institute of Foreign Policy Studies, Kolkata. She holds a double Master degree in History and Developmental Studies from the University of Calcutta (India) and the University of Rome, La Sapienza (Italy) respectively. During her brief stint in the Social Development Sector she has worked with reputed international organizations like the Deutsche Gesellschaft für international Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Water for People. She has gained substantial research experience having worked for reputed think tanks like the Maulana Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata (Ministry of Culture, Government of India) and the Centre for Air Power Studies, New Delhi.

She has published extensively in the field of aid diplomacy, India’s foreign policy, regional cooperation, gender, migration and refugees- all in respect to Afghanistan. Her publications include Afghanistan from Enduring Freedom to Enduring Chaos: Implications for India (2012), A Leap Forward: Education, Capacity Building and Indo-Afghanistan Co-Operation (2014) and Afghan Women in Transition: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (2017). Her recent book Identity and Marginality in India: Settlement Experience of Afghan Migrants (2018) has been published by Routlegde, United Kingdom.

Willy Brandt School Doctoral Students Participated at the First “Science Fair Day” Organized by Erfurt University

Erfurt University organized the first Science Fair day on June 30, 2016. The program was inaugurated by the Vice President of Forschung und Nachwuchsförderung (Research and Career Development/Graduate studies) Prof. Dr. Susanne Rau. She stated that the event is the first one to be held at the university and its aim is to introduce what kind of researches is being held at the university. Furthermore, she stated that the plan to held such kinds of events each year.

The Science Fair combined a poster presentation of researched conducted by the university’s professors, post-doc researchers as well as doctoral researchers and different panel discussions. The doctoral students of Willy Brandt School Ms. Jalale G. Birru, Mr. Khalil Bitar. Ms. Anwesha Ghosh and Ms. Heidi Ross presented their respective researches during this event.
